Carbohydrates

These are molecules made up from carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atoms. They are named Carbohydrates (carbon water) because of their general formula n[C(H2O)]

In Biochemistry Carbohydrates are also known as Saccharides.

Carbohydrate governs energy and structure of our body. These are also the main source of energy for plants. Plants use Carbon dioxide and water in photosynthesis to form carbohydrate.

About half of the portion of our diet should be from carbohydrate.

Grains, vegetables, and fruits are the main sources of carbohydrate.

Sugar and Soda are also sources of protein but they lack in vitamins and minerals.

Sources 

The main sources are cereals, potatoes, sugars, cane, honey, milk, etc.

  • Kwashiorkor
  • Lassitude
  • Marasmic
  • Nephrosis
  • Oedema
